Being strong believers of Hindu religion, we all have utmost faith in Veda, Sastras, Jenma etc. As we live our lives according to rites and ceremonies, we firmly believe in Moksha, also known as mukthi. Only on his or her Karmavina during the Jenma may one get Moksha. As a result, people travel from all over the nation to this sacred site, Ivormadom, (Ivar madom, Ivar madam, Ivarmadam) to carry out rituals and ceremonial rites in order to grant their loved ones’ souls Moksha (Mukthi). With Lord Sree Krishna’s blessings, individuals are able to experience eternal serenity and contentment.
It is fascinating to learn the origin of Ivar madam Temple and how it earned its name and worth. We are all familiar with the battle between Dharma and Adharma, which is the most famous epic in the Mahabharata. Pancha Pandavas and Kauravas fought the Kurushethra war, in which huge numbers of people, including their blood relatives and kin and kith, perished.
Following the Great War, the Pandavas paid tribute to those who had died and carried out final ceremonies and rites to help the deceased’s souls enter Moksha. They tried it in multiple locations intended for it, but they had no results. Being desperate, Pandavas visited Bharthaghandam, a holy place, recalling the words and teachings of their beloved guru Vedavyasa.
They stayed there, carried out all the rites and rituals, and were ultimately filled with joy upon discovering that all the fallen warriors had attained Moksha and eternal peace. They constructed this temple because they sensed the presence of their Maha Guru Srikrishna throughout, and it was named Ivar madam since the Pandavas made and remained here. It is also believed that Veda Vyasa oversaw the building of the Ivor Madom temple on the Nila river beds (Bharatha Puzha). The primary deity Lord Krishna is accompanied at the temple by the updevas Lord Shiva, Ganapathi, Ayyapa, Mahalakshmi, and Naga.
Located on the southern bank of Bharathappuzha, the second-longest river in Kerala, in the Thrissur district, lies the well-known Ivormadom Temple. Pampady village is close to Thiruvilwamala.
